How to Activate Garmin Mobile XT on Your PPC (Windows Mobile)

Most of PPC has been completed with A-GPS function for now on. But several of it were not completed with the Navigation Software. Therefore, we couldn’t maximize the GPS function. GPS is very useful when you are on new area or you want to look for point of interest, some kinds of food, recreation, building, and many more. 

Now, how GPS can work on your PPC? First, you must have PPC that has built in GPS receiver. Second, you need to install Navigation software and map to your PPC. These are several of Navigation Software;

1. Tom-tom Map
2. Mio Map
3. Map King
4. Nusa Map
5. Garmin Mobile XT
6. Nokia Map (exclusively for Nokia Phone)
7. Blackberry Map (exclusively for Blackberry Phone)
8. Google Map
9. etc.

I decide to install Garmin Mobile XT on my HP Ipaq 612c. The reasons are;

1. Garmin Mobile XT could be downloaded free (include base map & support files). Here is the site:

2. Garmin Map could be downloaded free and always updated. Here the site for Indonesian Map:

3. Routing feature is free of charges by Garmin.

So, the reason is free!!!!! huahahahaha:D

How to install Garmin Mobile XT on your PPC? Here are the steps;

1. Install the first version of Garmin Mobile XT (ver. 4.10.40w)
2. Install Garmin Mobile XT Free Base Map (ver. 4.xx.xx)
3. Install Garmin Mobile XT Support Files (ver. 4.xx.xx)
4. Download Garmin Map (gmapsupp.img) and copy to garmin folder on your PPC storage card. (Garmin Map need to unlock to be opened. how to unlock it, I can’t post it in this blog because it could be danger to my blog. You can ask your friend or looking at thread and forum)

5. Install Garmin Mobile XT newest version. Here is the site:

Remember this one important thing….INSTALL ALL ITEMS TO STORAGE CARD, NOT TO YOUR PHONE MEMORY.
